Wilbur Allen Foster Wilbur Allen Foster passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008, following a long illness, at the age of 78. Wilbur was born and raised in Austin, attended Austin High School and graduated from the University of Texas. An inventor and entrepreneur with several patents, his innovations spanned the gamut, from household and technological items, to medical equipment (including his latest device, a patient lift) to earth sheltered housing. He enjoyed welcoming friends and family to his beautiful earth sheltered home in West Austin, which was quite ahead of it's time. Wilbur practiced a life long pursuit of perfection. Well known for his quick wit and winning smile, he was always ready with a joke, enjoyed socializing, loved to dance, and looked great in a tuxedo! Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Clary Foster. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Foster and husband Robert Elliott, son Richard Foster and wife Sherry, brother Thomas Earl Foster and wife Janell, and many other caring friends and relatives. The Foster family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of The Summit at Westlake Hills, who cared for Wilbur during the past seven years. Per his request no formal ceremony is planned. Those wishing to honor his passing may do so by making a contribution to Meals on Wheels, 3227 East 5th Street, Austin, TX 78702.
