William H. Blagg William H. Blagg, age 81, of Austin, passed away on September 28, 2005. “Willie” was born on October 25, 1923 to Benjamin F. and Margie Blagg near Bluffton, Arkansas. He married Gelene Pennington in Dumas, Texas, on November 19, 1942. He had enlisted in the U.S. Navy and in December 1942 he was called to duty. He attended machinist school in San Diego, California, and in March of 1943 he started serving on board a destroyer, The U.S.S. Brown. He spent the next three years in the South Pacific Battle Zone. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Norman Blagg in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Gelene of Austin, Texas, one son, Frank and wife Vickie of Dripping Springs, Texas; six grandchildren, Anne Marie Taylor and Jeremy W. F. Blagg of Alvin, Texas, Laura Denise Belyeu of San Antonio Texas, Andrea Genelle Pylate of Baytown, Texas, Tara Jo Bieck of San Diego, California, and Magen Leigh Hyatt of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Imo Gene McCarty and Molly Ruth Martin both of Amarillo, Texas; and six great grandchildren.. Willie and his wife Gelene had lived in Austin since 2001. He was a Methodist and had worked for over forty years in the oilfield business in the panhandle area of Texas. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 2, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm. Services will be officiated by nephews, Pat Brandenburg of Fairfax, Oklahoma, and Reverend Del Sanford of Sheridan, Texas. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 3, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas The family wishes to thank our dear friends at Monte Siesta Nursing Facility and Odyssey Healthcare.
