William "Bill" Humphrey, 59 years of age, left us too soon, on November 30, 2021, despite being vaccinated, a victim of COVID-19. Bill was a long time resident of Springfield, Illinois, before relocating to Austin, Texas, to work for Electra Link, a premier telecommunications organization. Though he moved south for career opportunities, the weather and the barbecue, he remained an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, on August 15, 1962, Bill grew up in Lansing, Illinois, and attended Thornton Fractional South High School, Northern Illinois University and Sangamon State University. Most recently he was exploring a new horizon as a student enrolled in the Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design program at Austin Community College.
Parents Jesse and Elizabeth Humphrey predeceased him. He leaves behind sisters and their spouses, Randall and Patricia Rushing of Springfield, Illinois, and John and Nancy van der Linden of Williamsburg, Virginia. He also leaves his favorite nephew and spouse, Alex and Kaitlin van der Linden and their children, Oakley and Calder.
Bill's warm personality allowed him to nurture many long term friendships. He will be missed by family and friends.
The family is being served by Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.
