William (Bill) Lathem Hyde, 71 of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020 at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born and raised in New Orleans to William H. Hyde, Jr. and Emogene Lathem, Bill’s early life was shaped by the rich culture of his beloved hometown. Both of his parents preceded him in death.
Bill attended and (eventually) graduated from Tulane University, where he developed numerous friendships and a lifelong (often painful) devotion to Tulane athletics. He spent a productive career in the oil industry, which took him from New Orleans to Texas and on numerous international adventures—to Saudi Arabia, Kurdistan, the Philippines, and elsewhere. But he spent most of his adult life and career in Texas: in Houston, Spring and Austin.
Bill’s joy in life was his family and he is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Miya (husband Dick); his wife, Tricia; his daughter, Taylor; his son, Brendan (wife Aislinn); his grandson, Edward and countless extended family members and friends.
He was a loving husband, a nurturing father, a proud grandfather, and a kind-hearted friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation in Bill's name to the American Cancer Society.
Due to the current circumstances, Bill's service has been cancelled. Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, and support during this time.
