William Wilson Lancaster peacefully departed life on earth on July 18, 2005, with his wife by his side. Wilson, a life-long Austinite was born on November 19, 1926, the sixth of ten children of Rector and Gladys Lancaster. Wilson was married 58 years to Lucille Judd Lancaster who survives him. From that loving marriage, four devoted children were born and survive him; Bill & Rose of Springfield, MO, Marcene of Austin, Terry & Donna of Georgetown; Jim Bob & Vicki of Manchaca. He leaves behind his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Dawn & Scott Key, Gracie and Olivia; Barrett Lancaster; Chad Lancaster, Brad & Danae Lancaster and Ethan; Laura & Joseph Justiss and Reagan, Jana Lancaster and fiancée` Andy Lee and Jill Lancaster. He is also survived by brothers Louis, Pat, J.P. and Lee, sisters Lois Brown and Jean Willie as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He became a Christian and was baptized during his teenage years at Govalle Avenue Baptist Church. Wilson was a hard working man beginning at a very young age cleaning milk cans for Taylor Glass at Polar Ice Cream Company. Taylor took him under his wing and taught him the ice cream business from the ground up. During his career in the ice cream business, he learned refrigeration work to maintain the companies freezers located in businesses all over Central Texas. He also was an amazing mechanic and retired from Christian Plumbing and AC in December, 1988. Wilson loved his country and fought in WWII in the Philippines and later in the Korean conflict. He was proud of his military service in the Army and even more proud of his country. Many times, he reminded us that he fought so his children and grandchildren could live in a free country. Wilson was known as Honey, Daddy, Papa and Mopa. He was an awesome man who never stopped sharing with others any and all things he had learned during his life. He was loving and generous to Mom, his family, friends and neighbors. All that knew him will feel a void in their lives. As we selfishly grieve his passing, we know we will be reunited again in Heaven as he will be there to greet us. Family visitation will be Thursday evening July 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wilke Clay Fish Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Dr. Walter May on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial services will follow at Forest Oaks Cemetery in Oak Hill. Pallbearers will be Barrett Lancaster, Chad Lancaster, Brad Lancaster, Scott Key, Joseph Justiss and Duane Lancaster. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Lancaster, Ricky Lancaster, John Mark Judd and Jon Grimes. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Lee & Bonny Lancaster and their families for the support they lovingly gave to each of us in so many ways during the past weeks as we struggled through Daddys illness.
