

William David “Bill” Litton, of Austin, passed away on September 14th, 2013. He was 91. Born Willie David to Frank and Laura Litton in Austin, TX, Bill went to Palm Elementary, Allen Jr. High and Austin High School.
Before World War II, he joined the Texas National Guard, and at the start of World War II, he was inducted into the Army. Bill was stationed in North Africa and then on to Italy, where he worked on teams that assembled jeeps, trucks and anything that had to be put together after being shipped over. After the war he met Mary Helen Fischer, and they were married on September 29th, 1948. They had four children- Patty, Randy, Cathy and Laura.
Bill worked for the Texas Highway Department Motor Vehicle Division for 37 years before retiring. He was an accomplished artist and woodworker, which he enjoyed doing in retirement. Bill was a fourth generation Texan- his great-grandfather Addison Litton fought with Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto for Texas independence.
He is preceded in death by his parents, older brother Henry F. “Jiggs” Litton, older sister Blanche Breisch and daughter Cathy Litton. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Helen, daughters Patty Tomsu and husband Bill, Laura Jackson and husband Bill, son Randy, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Wednesday, the 18th of September 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at seven o’clock that evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 19th of September 2013, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 4311 Small Drive, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
