William Brooks Miller

December 5, 1954March 7, 2017

Bill, as he was known by friends and family, was born in Austin, Texas on December 5, 1954 at 10:19 pm. He was the first of three boys born into the Miller home. He graduated from Reagan High and joined the Army in 1972. Bill served for 5 1/2 years overseas in Germany doing communications and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant E-6. In 1988, he married the love of his life, Sherri Snead, and they remained in Austin near friends and family for the rest of his life.

He was the most loving, kind, and giving person you would ever meet. He was known by those who loved him to have an insatiable appetite for knowledge, always learning something new. Bill was an exceptional athlete, training in cycling, bodybuilding, martial arts and even became certified as a knife fighting instructor. He was also extremely creative, and made beautiful custom knives.

Later in life he became a self-employed blacksmith, making some amazing pieces of art. He was also passionate about gardening. Bill and Sherri were active members in his childhood church, Hyde Park Baptist, for his entire life. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Sherner Miller. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sherri; mother, Peggy; brothers James and Philip (Dolly); brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Tommy and Laura Snead, Kelly and Stacy Hunnicutt, and Stephani Buckingham; mother-in-law, Tomagene Snead; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Sherrie, it is so sad that Bill left this world and my heart aches for you. I'm so sorry for his passing. He had such a tremendous battle with health and I know how that takes its toll no matter how strong you are mentally & physically. You are certainly in my thought and prayer as is his and your families. I just wish I could have known him better and wish so badly that Carole & I had gotten to visit he & You at least every now and then and that bothers me now that he has passed. You know Carole is there for anything you might need in the coming weeks, months & even years. Thinking of you and just hoping you know he is in a much better place with no more health issues and is perfect in every way. And he will be waiting until the day God calls you home to be together for eternity. Carole is heading to Bonham right now to see you in a bit. God Bless & You Will Be Prayed For And Hoping It Gives You Strength Threw This Most Difficult Time, Scott
