
I cant believe that i just found out after 5 years. Ive been out of the state and out of touch. Will, when i walked in the room you made me feel like i was the only person there. You did that with everyone...its your charm. We would always take taxis and you became friends with every driver. Im still trying to imitate your tap dancing, but can never dupicate it. You cared so deeply and really changed my life. When you found out about my tumor, you were so concerned. I never told you this but i woke up one night with you kneeling on the bed with your hands on the spot where my tumor was...you were looking to the sky, praying. I pretended i was asleep. I heard it through the grapevine, Will.  And Im so glad thats how the news came to me.  Here in this little city weve gotten lives much hurries.  We spin around in our swirling Austin trajectories, many of which link solidly to you and your love of twisting some chaos into growing, solid bonds.  The first time I slowed my life down to a reasonable pace  what we now call a breather  I met a total stranger who bore some sad news.    What could better attest to the scope of Wills joyful presence?  The good man was a warm lamp who illuminated a lot of corners all around.      Two total strangers in casual transience uttered your name in the first few sentences of a pleasant conversation, one had not heard youd passed on and the other shared just one final piece of your storied life.  Even though Will is no longer leaving footprints, hes still bringing people together.



My deepest sympathies to the O'Connell family.  Although I have not seen Will for sometime, he is one that I have thought of often, and thought forsure I would see again.  He will be truly missed by many.

Tuesday morning Rachel showed me two pictures she had and you were beautiful.  I asked her to take it to the funeral home to be used in the paper.  When I saw the picture at the funeral home, it was nothing like what I had seen. I had seen a huge smile just like you have had all your life. Your hair was about neck length, full and dark.  I believe you visited me to assure me that all is well with your soul.    I love you so much. Thank you for being such a blessing in my life, my son.

I knew Will from Slick Willies North and am sorry to say I had not seen him in years. I remember the first time I walked into Wet and saw Will..always the first one to greet anyone who came in that door with the biggest and most infectious smile I've ever seen. Though he did not cut my hair, we began seeing each other all the time when he would come into Doc's where I work. It didn't matter what kinda day I was having, when he sat at the bar he would ALWAYS say "HEY sweetie!" with the most enthusiastic personality. I saw him and Rachel on saturday being goofy as usual and talked w/them for a bit. I can still see where he was sitting and hear the conversation we had...one that will forever live in my memory and his love of life, forever in my heart.   You are a beautiful spirit, Will and we will carry that spirit with us forever...until we meet again. Much peace and love to you, Rachel, and your family. We met Will through APA at Stardust.  We liked the nights we played his team because we always laughed a lot! We'll miss you!!!



I've known Will for many years through playing pool.  As many have already said, he was a pleasure to be around and was liked by everyone.  Even people who didn't really know him liked him.  Many times I've heard things like 'that guy with the crazy hair is really nice.'  The lyric 'Only the good die young' has never been more true.    We'll miss you, Will.    Rest in peace.



Will and I were on the same pool league team for a few seasons and I always enjoyed his company, his instruction and his advice.  What still strikes me is that I was thinking of him just on Monday even though we had not seen each other in a few months since he was playing at another pool hall.  I miss his bright character.  I know that the things he taught me in the game will stay with me forever.

What a shock to find Will's great smile on the obituary page!  Will has cut my hair since I moved to Austin four years ago. I really don't know where to start.  I've known Will about 9 years now.  He is one of those infectious people that no one will ever forget. I met Will at The Warehouse, where he and Rachel and the rest of the motley pool crew came to practice and compete. Without fail Will's beautiful smile and easygoing humor brightened my day each and every time I saw him. He had a way of making you feel as if you were one of his best friends, even when you'd only just met. Will was one of the most kind, caring, and genuine people I have ever met. George and I and The Warehouse crew mourn with the O'Connell family, Rachel, and all of Will's friends at his passing. The World is a better place for his being here, and the memory of his brilliant smile something we all cherish. We miss you, Will.

The simplest way to say it is that Will was just a good, good guy. I was always excited to see Will when I went to pool on Tuesdays at south Slicks. He was such an awesome guy and got along with everyone. I moved up north and was unable to continue playing down south. Everytime I would visit he would treat me as if I never left.    Thank you for being a part of my life in a great positive way.



I knew you in high school, wow what a long time ago that was, and we lost touch through the years until I walked into Wet 4 years ago. Your smile and hugs made everyone feel welcomed and special. You were a true master at everything you did, especially cutting my crazy curls. Thanks for not cutting it off like I wanted.I am so glad that I got that last hug on Friday. You will be dearly missed. Rest in peace Will.



Will was the captain of the first team Glenn and I played on in APA. He was so welcoming and made me feel like I could shoot pool when I didn't know one end of the cue from the other. We always enjoyed seeing him at the tournaments. We will miss his energy and wonderful personality.     Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.



I am a former Austin resident.  Will was always so nice to me, so funny and kind.  My heart goes out to you for your loss.



Will.  I do not even know where to begin.  You can't possibly imagine how much I miss you already. You meant the world to me, and so many others, and I just hope that you know I will always love you.  Even if you did constantly talk me into doing things I didn't want to do...put beans all over neighbor's cars...smell your damn finger...put brisket sandwich all over the toilet on the flight to Chicago to make it look like someone pooped everywhere...gone out COUNTLESS times, when I knew I needed to stay home and sleep...and SO many more to name.    Liam, thank you for all the wonderful memories and I wouldn't trade ANY of them for the world. In the immortal words of Robert Smith, "I will always love you.  I will ALWAYS LOVE YOU." TOXIC TWINS FOREVER!!!
