
We had great times and mamy laughs at McCallum and l kept up with you over the years through your mom Pearl who worked for my uncle at the Plumbing Board, reading you tributes you had a wonderful life and impacted many people, rest in peace and know you and yours are in my thoughts, in my heart and in my prayers, well done Spike. There are so many fond memories I have of Spike.  I feel so fortunate to have known him from the time we were young teenagers.  Besides all of the fun times from hanging out at Holiday House or mudding in the school parking lot, we shared a love of music and pulling pranks.  When Spike was around there was always a lot of laughter especially his skill of putting his own spin on the English language.  I never knew if those funny sounding words and names were real or not.  Although all of that was over 50 years ago, the special gift is we were able to stay in touch and he never changed. That is probably why he has so many life long friends.  Spike, you will always be my Duke of Earl.  




  Spike was a great guy!  We really had fun together at Mac.  We have stayed in touch over the last years via email.  I know Spike and Vicki  loved to ride their Honda Goldwing.  We got to have lunch here in Ft Smith, AR. when they were traveling to Bikes, Blues and BBQ. about 5 yrs ago.   I will really miss Spike and his laughter.  He was always fun guy to be around ! If you were on the list, Spike shared everything from Magical Trevor to imgur.com to "F Y R"!  Spike made me laugh and laughed with me! Spike, a couple of times made me cry and we cried together! As I write this, it is a mixture of those wonderful times, but I don't have him to laugh or cry with me! G P and I were his  "roomies" as he called us at Eastex. And he never hesitated to call me a "deaf ba*#ard" when I failed to hear something he or G P said to me! Then he would give that Spike laugh and talk loud to me.  Then  the next day hearing aid ads would mysteriously appear on my desk. Spike was indeed one of a kind! When GOD made him, he took one look and broke the mold! The world could only handle one Spike! We disagreed often on politics and religion, and I soon learned that I was never going to win an argument ! He new both backwards and forward and was too intelligent for me! We shared a real love for guns and dogs, and Axl's antics gave him real joy as he shared them!  Spike taught me the little I know about a computer, but schooled me well on a cell phone! Spike was my true friend and no subject was off limits for us to discuss! I am really missing you buddy! I should have planted a garden. There would be no problem with weed, cause my buddy would have made sure there was none in my garden to hoe or pull !  He knew exactly how to dispose of such! I love you Spike! You, your smile, your crazy sense of humor, your words of wisdom and your friendship will never be forgotten! Arf, arf to you and Axl! Axl I will see you and your Mama real soon! I don't remember Bobby Ruggiero, but his story about softball from the 70's made me instantly think of this one:

Spike...
Man, what to say, what to say... How can I put into words a lifetime of memories. When you, Pearl and Granny came to see me when I was two. You went with my Dad to get me my first haircut. I actually remember you bribing me with ice cream because I didn't want to go. That was 1962. I remember you and your friend from the Navy coming over to the house to visit while you were on leave. You guys took me to the beach to have a day of fun in the sun. That was 1966. I have so many more enjoyable memories, but few rival the time I visited you and Vicki in Pittsburg TX and you guys took me to a local winery. I'm so surprised we didn't end up in the pokey that night (I'm also surprised we even made it home at all). And yes Vicki, the last time I was out there in May and we did the BBQ crawl. I will never forget you Spike. You are a kindred spirit.

Mr. Spike, We enjoyed every passing smile, every great story, every conversation no matter how short. You were a joy to spend time with. May you have as much fun up there as you did done here. Good Bye My Friend.



My friend Spike, the lover of life, always a joke to tell, always a smile on your face.  Even through your illness, you never quit smiling.  Your zest for life was contagious, and for that, my friend, I thank you.

We became life-long, loyal friends within the first five minutes we met back in 1990 at Swift Energy.  Something clicked between us, despite our difference in age.  I'll never forget "sandbagging" against you during our first of many racquetball battles.  You thought that was so cool.  

Thank you, Spike, for the many memories that I will always cherish, the great times that I'll never forget and the many stories I can share and tell.

Rest in peace, my friend; you've earned it.  You found a great wife, true, loyal friends, and raised two awesome daughters.  You did good buddy!  I love you, man and miss you already.

Oh, Spike!  I missed seeing you last week when Vicki came in with Billy Gibbons, and was so sad to hear that you weren't feeling well. I always enjoyed our fun conversations in the clinic while adoring Axl Rose and laughing about his antics!   You and he shared such a great bond!    I will miss you, friend.




Ah, Spike. With the body of a man and the spirit of an impish child. Not to mention a guy who could totally and unapologetically wear the tight white shorts of the uniform on the adult softball team uniform that he and Donna were on with my parents in the late '70s. 

They seemed to have as many beer coolers as pieces of sports equipment.

I went to school with Michelle, and got to know Spike better my freshman year at UT. He offered me some sage advice once that I keep with me to this day. And though I hadn't seen him in over 25 years, I'll always remember him. 



Although we lost touch as adults, you Spike was the cool older cousin who always let me tag along when we'd come from Houston for a visit. Fond memories include waking up early to watch him roll the newspapers for his route and a great trip to Padre Island. As alwayst: "Tiny 'lil urchins do the chachacha!



Oh Spike, you will be missed by so many... You always made me laugh and you always said things that made me say huh??? Because you were so smart and could easily "trip" me up with your thoughts... HA  !!  I will miss your writing.. Your "mini" books ðŸ˜¢ RIP My Friend ... Thank you for being such a great friend to Johnny... He loved you and he is so sad... I know you wouldn't want him to be sad.. Trust me though, I hear him talking about you now ( on the phone to a friend ) he is laughing in reference to some of your E-mails, and talking about your ridiculous "smarts"

I can not say or hear the name Spike Parker without it bringing an overwhelming smile to my face.  I have known Spike through many years of schooling and ALL my memories are wonderful.  He was the most fun loving boy, young man and seasoned man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  His love of life and especially music will always be dear to my heart.  I had the pleasure of having many deep discussions about so many types of music and bands...usually accompanied by a sample e-mail of what he loved about them.  My favorite picture of him was jr. high with his hair black...slicked back and hands in the "Elvis" pose....he was pretty darn good at his imitation of him too.  He was definitely "one of a kind" and will be missed by all that he touched...and he touched all that knew him in a special way.  I will always treasure his ability to make me laugh in class...especially when he knew I shouldn't be laughing and he NEVER failed to make me laugh.  I will miss all that made him Spike. 



So sorry to hear of Spike's passing. Met Spike and Vickie at a "mini-reunion at my future wife, Renee's, home in 2009. Felt a bond and a kinship with him immediately.We talked about motorcycles, our military service and Vietnam. Spike, I remember the last time you and Vicki visited. I appreciated you more than you will ever know. We'll see you again on the other side..Rest in Peace Brother and God Speed.
