William H. (Bill) Prather, age 87, of Austin, Texas, died on December 13, 2008. He was born on November 8, 1921, in Austin, Texas to Oscar Paul Prather and Ernestine Prather. He was a life-long Austinite. Bill served his country in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He attended Baylor University and the University of Texas at Austin. Bill was employed as a Civil Engineer with Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1984. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church and Scottish Rite Temple. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Doris G. Prather; two daughters, Paula Hamje and Denise Moore; and by grandchildren Chris Hamje, Laura Maki, and Zoe Moore. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2008, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, Rev. Dr. Doug Keenan officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
