He enlisted in the Army-Air Corps in 1941 and later joined the US Air Force, serving in the European Theatre of World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after serving 30 years. His next career was teaching automotive mechanics at a technical school, and his last career was owning and running a car lot. Everyone who met him soon realized they could bring him almost any broken machine - from lawnmowers to cars- and he would figure out a way to fix it.
We cherish and honor his courage and dignity: his devoted wife of nine years, Vera Youngbloom, daughter Vivian Miller and husband James Boylan; son Gary Miller and wife Gayle; daughter Deborah Bates and husband Bill; granddaughter Valerie Windle and husband Brody; granddaughter Madeleine Bates; great-grandson Levi Miller Windle; the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Vera Youngbloom, brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Lurlean Miller, brother Leo Miller and sisters Artie B Alford and Altonia Brawley.
The family is grateful for the love, prayers and generous spirit of the Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship, the domino players of the Oak Hill Senior Activities Center, our neighbors in Circle C, and friends Micah White, Danny Campos and Laurel Briscoe.
