

Wincent Frank Lempar departed this life on December 13, 2012 at the age of 90, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1922 in Cuero, Texas to Joseph William and Adela Wisniewski Lempa. When Wincent and Conrad were in the service, the name "Lempa" got changed to "Lempar". Instead of going through the difficult hassle of getting the name changed, they decided to leave it Lempar.
Wincent is survived by his wife of 66 years, Tilly Lempar. Son Michael, grandson Cody Lempar, and James and his wife Cindy Lempar. Brother, Ben and Lucy Lempa all of Austin. Sisters Josephine Krzywonski, San Antonio, Margaret Krzywonski, Waco, Loraine and husband Bobby Reese of Austin, Sally and husband Walter Rosenbusch of San Antonio, and Rose and husband David Colby of Cantonment, Florida along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Adela Lempa of Lockhart, a brother Conrad Lempar and Wife Emily of Boerne, Texas, and a sister Mildred, and husband Richard Harris of San Antonio, Texas.
As a teenager, Wincent begged and "borrowed" old automobile parts and built his own automobile. When he and his brother Conrad were of age, they joined the Texas National Guard, 36th Infantry Division; which was activated during World War II. Serving in the North Africa and Italy Campaigns where he received the medals of Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge displaying the numerous campaign ribbons his Unit was engaged in. After being discharged, he became a Letter Carrier with the United States Post Office on March 25, 1953, retiring February 20, 1989. Also, during this time, Wincent started his own Auto Repair business and Body Shop, which is still carried on by his sons Michael and James.
Being very Civic minded; he was very active with the Letter Carriers Union of America, even after retiring. Also, many public officials, elected or appointed, by the City, County, State or United States Congressmen or Senators, received telephone calls from him on various issues that he was concerned about.
A Rosary will be held on Monday the 17th of December at six o’clock in the evening at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday the 18th of December at ten o’clock in the morning at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road. Burial will be at Polonia Cemetery near Lockhart, Texas at 12:00pm. In lieu of Flowers, please make donations to Polonia Cemetery in Wincent Lempar’s name.
