Wubet Redda

Sister Wubet Redda was born on November 29, 1923 in the Ethiopian calendar, in Addis Ababa, to her father, Ato Equbesilassie Gebre, and her mother, Woizero Tiblets Redda.

Wubet completed her primary education at Empress Menen School, and traveled to Europe in 1953 to complete her secondary education in Sweden.

She then went on to complete her nursing education with the Swedish Red Cross in 1955 and returned to Ethiopia in 1959.

Wubet served her beloved country in her profession as a pediatric nurse at Princess Tsehai Hospital. Afterward, she went back to Sweden for further study and completed her advanced training.

While there, in 1963, she married her husband, Ato Yehdego Bitewlign. She later returned to Ethiopia, where she worked as a nurse educator and served her people in the health profession.

Wubet went on to work for the Ageca and Nestlé companies, traveling throughout the Ethiopian provinces to teach new mothers about postpartum care.

After Nestlé was nationalized and became a domestic distribution company following the change of government, she served as administrator over Ethiopia’s food import and distribution division until her retirement.

She was called back from retirement to serve in her nursing profession at the Swedish Embassy in Addis Ababa and at the CIDA Clinic, where she worked for additional years.

After her husband passed away in 1991, Sister Wubet lived partially in Ethiopia and the United States. After 2012, she moved permanently to the United States to be with her children and made her home in Austin, TX.

Throughout her life, Sister Wubet was known — in her church, her community, and her home — for her forgiving spirit, her life of prayer, her consistent kindness, her motherly love, and her deep humility.

Sister Wubet is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

የሲስተር ውበት አጭር የሕይወት ታሪክ

ሲስተር ውበት ረዳ ከአባታቸው ከአቶ ዕቑበሥላሴ ገብሬ እና ከእናታቸው ከወ/ሮ ትብለፅ ረዳ ህዳር ፳፱ ፲፱፳፫ በአዲስ አበባ ከተማ ተወለዱ።

እድሜአቸው ለትምህርት ሲደርስ በእቴጌ መነን ት/ቤት የአንደኛ ደረጃ ትምህርታቸውን ጨርሰው በ፲፱፶፫ ዓ.ም ወደአውሮፓ በመሄድ በስዊድን አገር ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርታቸውን አጠናቀዋል።

ከዛም በመቀጠል በ፲፱፶፭ ዓ.ም በስዊድን የቀይ መስቀል የነርስነት ትምህርታቸውን ጨርሰው ወደኢትዮጵያ በ፲፱፶፱ ዓ.ም ተመለሱ።

የሚወዷትን አገራቸውን ኢትዮጵያን በነርስነት ሞያቸው በልዕልት ፀሐይ ሆስፒታል የሕፃናት ነርስ በመሆን ካገለገሉ በኋላ እንደገና ለትምህርት ወደ ስዊድን ሄደው የከፍተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርታቸውን አጠናቀቁ።

እዛው እያሉም በ፲፱፷፫ ዓ.ም ከባለቤታቸው ከአቶ ይሕደጎ ቢተውልኝ ጋር ትዳራቸውን መሠረቱ ። በኋላም ወደኢትዮጵያ በመመለስ በነርስ አስተማሪነት እና በጤና ሞያቸው ተሰማርተው ህዝባቸውን አገልግለዋል።

በመቀጠልም በአጄካ (Ageca) እና በ ኔስሌ (Nestlé) ኩባንያዎች አራስ የሆኑ እናቶችን ከወሊድ በኋላ የሚደረገውን እንክብካቤ በማስተማር በየክፍለ ሀገሩ በመዘዋወር ሠርተዋል።

ኔስሌ ኩባንያ በለውጡ ተወርሶ የአገር ውስጥ ማከፋፈያ ድርጅት ከሆነ በኋላ በምግብ አስመጪና የሥርጭት ክፍል አስተዳዳሪ በመሆን እስከ ጡረታቸውጊዜ ድረስ ሰርተዋል።

በተጨማሪም በአዲስ አበባ ስዊድን ኤምባሲ እና በ CIDA CLINIC በነርስነት ሞያቸው እንዲያገለግሉ በመጠራታቸው ለተወሰኑ ዐመታት በተጨማሪ ሰርተዋል።

በ፲፱፺፩ ባለቤታቸው ካረፉ በኋላ ልጆቻቸው ወዳሉበት ወደ አሜሪካ በመመላለስ ኖረው ቆይተው

ከ፪ሺ፲፪ በኋላ ግን ጠቅልለው በመምጣት ኑሮአቸውን በ Austin TX አድርገዋል።

ሲስተር ውበት በሕይወት ዘመናቸው በቤተክርስቲያን ፣በሕብረተሰባቸው ፣ በቤታቸው የሚታወቁት በይቅርታ አድራጊነታቸው የፀሎት ሰው በመሆናቸው በደግነታቸው በእናትነት ፍቅራቸው እና በትህትናቸው ጭምር ነው።

ሲስተር ውበት የሁለት ሴት ልጆች እና የ አምስት ልጆች አያት እንዲሁም የአንዲት ሴት ልጅ ቅድመ አያት ለመሆን በቅተዋል።
