After graduating from Albert Sidney Johnston High School, Xevior began a lifetime of hard work and service. He dedicated more than twenty years to the State of Texas as a skilled printer, and took immense pride in his craft and in the ways his work supported others.
His dedication extended far beyond the workplace—Xevior poured his heart into his community. He led the Austin Litho Club as President, and championed scholarship opportunities for students pursuing printing and graphic arts. He also gave his time and spirit to organizations he cherished, including the Knights of Columbus and the Austin Area Tejano Legends; He also served as PTA President and volunteered with the Band Boosters.
A true servant at heart, Xevior was happiest when giving to others. He helped countless people throughout every season of life and was known for his generous spirit—often willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He welcomed strangers to the family dinner table, helped friends and neighbors move, and often used his connections to help others find jobs and new opportunities. Whether grilling at church fairs or lending a hand to friends and strangers alike, he gave generously and without hesitation, often at his own expense. Through his actions, Xevior brought people together and inspired those around him to care for others as he always did.
Music was Xevior’s lifelong passion. As a conga player, he brought warmth, rhythm, and life into every space he entered, sharing a part of himself through every beat. He also built one of the largest vinyl record collections, a treasure his family will now lovingly preserve. Xevior especially cherished attending concerts of every genre with his daughter Jennifer.
Xevior had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. He loved baking, training dogs, and had a deep love for animals. He also enjoyed hunting and playing golf whenever he had the chance. Xevior was an avid bowler as well, growing up bowling at Bowl-A-Rama and later joining the Tuesday and Wednesday leagues at Westgate Lanes. His energetic yellow lab, Chase, will miss him too.
Above all else, Xevior’s greatest commitment was to his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was the steady center that held everyone together. He graciously organized family gatherings and reunions, creating moments that became treasured memories for all. His grandchildren were the bright light of his life, and he devoted endless love, time, and encouragement to each of them.
Xevior knew the Lord and faithfully prayed to God for those around him. In the last few years of his life, he attended Foundation Church in Dripping Springs, where he deeply loved the messages and the fellowship. He often shared meaningful conversations about faith with his daughter Margarita, and together they reflected on the many ways God was present and moving in their lives. While he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Xevior is now in heaven—dancing, singing, and rejoicing with those who were waiting to welcome him home.
Xevior was preceded in death by his father, Elias G. Mota; mother, Augustina Rosales; stepmother, Mary Mota; and brother, Michael Mauricio.
He is survived by the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Janie A. Calderon. From the moment they wed in 1972, they began a beautiful lifelong bond. Their 53 years together were filled with strength, laughter, and profound love. Janie was the center of his world.
His memory lives on through his cherished children: Jennifer Mota (Victor), Margarita Davis (Jason), and Marcos Mota. His grandchildren—Maya, Kira, Geneva, and Lucas—carry forward his joy and his legacy.
Xevior’s spirit also continues to shine through the lives of his beloved siblings—Ricardo Mota (Carrie), Eddie R. Mota (Stella), Robert Martinez (Velda), Elias Mota (Pilar), Francisco Rosales, and Mary Pulido—as well as through the many nieces, nephews, and friends who treasured him.
The family is profoundly grateful to the ICU nurses and doctors at St. David’s South Austin Hospital, whose compassion and exceptional care brought comfort to our loved one.
