Chris was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan on December 25, 1956 to parents Wen-Sheun Chia and Shiu-Hwei Chao. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Chang, and his daughter Leanne. He is also survived by his mother, his sister Blanche Chen and brother-in-law Guo-Fu Chen, his brother Henry Chia and sister-in-law Huan-Yin Chia, and his nieces Shine-Lynn Chen, Yee-Lynn Chen, and Kathy Lau. He is preceded in death by his father and his brother Cheng-En Chia.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date when gatherings are appropriate.
