OBITUARY

Yvonne Elizabeth van der Schaaf

Yvonne van der Schaaf of Lago Vista, TX passed away on March 25, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

She was born in Helmond in the Netherlands on October 28, 1923. Yvonne grew up in Holland and married her husband Henk in 1951. After the birth of her first child in 1952, she went to Venezuela to join her husband. In 1961 she immigrated with her family to the United States and became a US citizen in 1967. She lived in Saginaw (MI), Valley Cottage (NY), Lakeland (FL) followed by 13 years in Houston (TX) and 4 years in Stavanger (Norway). After living in Norway she and her husband retired from Conoco Phillips in the latter part of 1986 and settled in Lago Vista, TX. Yvonne was an amazing mother, wife and hostess. She was an excellent homemaker and seamstress, and was always quick to laugh with an outstanding sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henk and her son Hans van der Schaaf. She is survived by her daughter Trix Hensley and her husband John of Houston, TX, her daughter Anneke Kelly of Cedar Park, TX and her daughter in law Brenda van der Schaaf of Richmond, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chelsea van der Schaaf Montero and husband Trevor of League City, TX, Breanna van der Schaaf of Houston, TX, Jason Kelly and wife Amber of Hutto, TX, Lauren Hensley Tyler and husband Vince of Austin, TX, Ryan Kelly of Cedar Park, TX, Reid Hensley and wife Dawn of Grapevine, TX, and Allison Kelly Washburn and husband Mike of Leander, TX. In addition, she is survived by eight great grandchildren: Cambria Tyler, Tinsley Montero, Clark Tyler, Kevin Washburn, Ava Kelly, Jack Tyler, Jaxon Washburn, and Wesley Washburn. Furthermore, she is survived by her step grandson Steven Hensley and wife Heidi of Houston, TX and their four children Trevor, Justin, Brooke and Hope Hensley. Yvonne is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Yvonne’s ashes will be inurned in the Garden of the Cross next to her son Hans and her husband Henk at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX.

Yvonne’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for her caretakers at Lakeline Oaks, Cedar Ridge and Cedar Pointe along with her amazing hospice nursing staff. Your kindness and loving care were a source of great comfort.

We've had the honour to meet with Yvonne in 2007 for the first time. After that we've seen here 3 times more. Our last time was octobre 2019.
What a great person Yvonne was. We'll miss here.
