It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emilie Larocque (née Monette). She passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and the dedicated staff of the Maison des Aînés in Hull, where she had resided for the past two years.
Emilie was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Anne; her beloved partner, Clem, the love of her life; and her brothers, Cliff and Allan. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene, her son-in-law, Ray LaBonte, Archie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Emilie was a devoted and loyal friend who touched the lives of many and continued to make new friendships even at the age of 97. She was a long-time employee of Irwin’s General Store and Royal Trust. She was also a dedicated parishioner of Christ Church Aylmer, where she served as a member of the altar guild under the guidance of Mary Wilson, a cherished friend.
She found great joy in working on quilts for the church bazaar and in traveling to the cottage, always accompanied by her faithful companion, Moose.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, especially by her daughter, Darlene.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Aylmer, located at 101 Rue Symmes, Gatineau, QC. Family and friends are invited to gather for condolences beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations to a charity of your choice in her memory.
