Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues of Ian Buchanan:
Ian was a respected expert, authority on marine paints & coatings for our superb Royal Canadian Navy. I worked for the same DND NDHQ RCN DGMEPM division as he did & occasionally consulted him for review, changes, approvals re paints, coatings involved with new Naval propulsion equipment, or modifications, or maintenance, etc.
Coincidently too, I can remember him in Deep River, Ontario, in the 1950s, also his fine family & younger brother Andy, one of my Deep River friends . I was just a youngster, approx. 8 years younger than Ian, & remember he left to join the RCN, who sometimes came to local schools to recruit.
The passing of a loved one is always traumatic. Sincere sympathies. Know that he is now in eternal Heavenly Paradise, in his prime, enjoying happy sailing, and the wonders of navigable time & much easier space.
