Peacefully with family by his side, on September 14, 2018. Husband of Ann Marie (nee Sullivan) for 60 years. Son of the late Edmund, and Agnes. Father of Cathy (Brian Watson), Jean and Gerard. Grandfather of Sean Watson. Brother of Joseph, Albertine Gomes, Delphine, Bernadette Terry (Clive), Susan Trombetta, Yvonne, Eva Davenport (Adrian), Marianne McKay, Beatrice and Irene. Predeceased by sisters Maria, Carmel and Florence and brothers Camille and Gerald. He was a graduate in engineering from St Francis Xavier and Mcgill universities and worked as a civil engineer for many years even after his retirement from public service. He was given the Carnegie Hero bronze medal for helping save 2 workmen from drowning. He was passionate about scouting and a scout and venture leader for many years. A longstanding member of Rotary International, he was often involved in fund raising for families in need. He was active in civic and local affairs in Aylmer Qc for many years and was named Citizen of the Year for 1987. His generous and helpful nature made him known to many in his community and he will be fondly remembered by many more. A special thank you to the staff on the 3rd floor at Centre hébergement La Pietà for the care he received while he was a resident and during his last days. The family will receive condolences on Sunday September 23rd from 1pm to 5pm at Maison Funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp 47 Denise Friend, Gatineau (Aylmer). The funeral service will be held on Thursday September 27th at 11 am, at St. Mark’s Church 160 rue Principale, Gatineau (Aylmer). Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation heartandstroke.ca, Scouts Canada scouts.ca or to a charity of your choice.

Le 14 septembre 2018 Jean-Baptiste Vautour est décédé paisiblement entouré des membres de sa famille. Fils de feu Edmond et Agnès, il laisse dans le deuil, après soixante ans de marriage, son épouse Ann Marie (née Sullivan), sa fille Cathy (Brian Watson) et ses fils Jean et Gerard ainsi que son petit-fils Sean.
Son départ laisse également dans le deuil ses soeurs Albertine Gomez(feu Antonio), Delphine, Bernadette Terry (Clive), Susan Trombetta, Yvonne, Eva Davenport(Adrian), Marianne Mackay, Béatrice, Irène et son frère Joseph. Ses soeurs Maria, Carmel et Florence et ses frères Camille et Gérald l'ayant précédés.
Gradué de l'Université Saint-François Xavier et de la faculté de génie de l'Université McGill en 1959, il a oeuvré toute sa carrière à titre d'ingénieur civil. Grand passionné du mouvement scoutiste, il a été responsable de plusieurs troupes de scouts et de pionniers au fil des ans. Il s'est également impliqué dans le mouvement Rotary International pendant de nombreuses années. De plus,en 1963 il a reçu la médaille de bronze de l'institut Carnegie pour avoir sauvé de la noyade deux travailleurs.
En 1987, il fut nommé par la communauté d'Aylmer, citoyen de l'année pour son implication dans différents projets et activités communautaires.
Plusieurs se souviendront de lui comme étant une personne généreuse et dévouée, prèt à aider quiconque dans le besoin.
La famille tient a adresser un remerciement tout spécial à l'équipe dévouée du troisième étage du centre La Pietà pour les bons soins proférés durant son séjour et plus particulièerement pour les attentions durant ses derniers jours.
La famille recevra les condoléances dimanche 23 septembre entre 13h et 17h à la maison funéraire Racine, Robert et Gauthier Beauchamp située au 47 rue Denise-Friend à Gatineau(Aylmer) J9H 3A8.
Le service funéraire aura lieu le jeudi 27 septembre à l'église St-Mark's, situé au 160 rue Principale à Gatineau(Aylmer).
Un don peut être fait à la Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l'AVC, à Scouts Canada ou à l'organisme de charité de votre choix.
