What a wild ride we had, Louis.  From the Union Nationale convention in Quebec City in 1969 where we crashed the press party, to York Street in Ottawa where we shared an apartment with John and Keith a year or so later. I was with you when you met Bodil at the Creperie and was best man when the two of you got married in Svendborg in 1973. Throughout the early years we drank gallons of beer at the Lafayette House, then drank more at the Rendezvous in Hull.  There were countless parties at the Bank Street apartment where your wit kept everyone on their toes and most of us smiling. You were a marksman with words, Louis: I could always count on a few aimed my way when my self-esteem needed calibration. Thank you for diligently keeping in touch over the decades no matter where our lives brought us. How I miss you, my friend!

My deepest sympathies to Bodil, Paul, Philip, and Camilla. 
I’m going to miss Louis too. He was the type of friend everyone wanted to have. His sense of humour and quick wit  kept us laughing both on and off the golf course. He also enjoyed more serious conversation and respected all opinions even if he disagreed with them. My heart goes out to you and to everyone who loved him. Words cannot describe how sorry I am at this loss.

I will dearly miss Louie, a friend for over 35 years.  Visiting Louie and Bodil,  felt like a "home away from home". Trusted friends with whom I shared ordinary times, celebrations, crazy outings and the usual sprinkle of drama. 
Louie was often my touchstone for a much needed reality check.  I loved his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, apt commentary and his random comments to ensure you didn't take yourself or this life too seriously.
Louie was a true friend and it is with deep sadness that I say farewell.
My heartfelt condolences to my dear friend Bodil and to Camilla, Philip, Paul, as well as Jane and Robert.

Je suis originaire de Donnacona, ma sœur était une grande amie d’enfance de Jane et Robert connaissait bien mon frère Jacques (Coco). J’ai rencontré Louis sur la glace en jouant au hockey. Nous avons partagé quelques bons moments ensemble…des souvenirs de jeunesse!

J’aurais aimé te connaître davantage Louis. Que tu sois parti si tôt et souffrant m’afflige énormément. Repose en paix!

Louis was a nice person and he will be missed by a large Community. My sincere condelences to Jane, Robert and the family.  


I meet Louis when I was au-pair in Ottawa 1971.
He was a very charming young man with a lovely smile in his eyes,  and the girls from Denmark and Norway liked Louis very much.
I have so many good memories from that time and later on when I went back to Canada, and when Bodil and Louis visited me in Denmark.
RIP dear Louis. You will be missed.

Dear Bodil and family, Jane’s and Robert's families,
We are so saddened by Louis’ passing…There are insufficient words to express our condolences.
Robert had given us updates since his trip earlier in May with Jane to visit you and Louis.
Louis’ illness was made easier by the fact that you were with him every step of the way and never faltered.
 
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.

Louis was a character on the golf course;  he brought great friends to join him on the course.  I had the honour, and the pleasure, of golfing with Louis and his friends!  Great memories.

Dear Bodil & family we are deeply sorry to hear of Louis’ passing. Len thoroughly enjoyed playing hockey with Louis and the camaraderie  after the games over many years. Louis must be at peace and scoring lots of goals now. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences Bo, hope you find the courage my friend. Louis was always fun to talk with, nonetheless arguing a bit. Best Regards to the whole family.

Friends for over 50 years, it is hard to think of life without Louis. Life without his high principles, his impish sense of humour, his constancy. In looking back what stands out is his love and devotion to his family. 


And he was a true friend. Always available and willing to help. No judgement. And in a discussion you could always be sure that he would be the contrarian. His humour allowed no pretension and he always stood for the less fortunate. 


My my most heartfelt condolences to those of you who loved him as I did. He will be deeply missed.

I haven’t seen him in years but when our boys were young, I have fond memories of his warmth and good sense of humour. Such a huge loss. Thinking of you all.
