Micheline Vanasse Charest

Micheline Vanasse, 74, d’Aylmer QC est décédée paisiblement ce 18 juillet 2023. Micheline laisse dans le deuil son époux des 54 dernières années, Marc Charest, ses trois enfants, ses cinq petits-enfants, ses trois frères ainsi que de nombreux parents et amis.

Micheline était immensément fière de ses enfants, Nicolas (Brynna Leslie), Philippe et Catherine (Toby Johnston), à qui elle a transmis son sens pratique, ses valeurs et son humour si subtil.

Mamie aimante de ses petits-enfants, son coeur était comblé en présence d'Olivier, Zachary, Theo, Sophia et Sajan. Elle adorait les tenir dans ses bras lorsqu'ils étaient petits et les regarder s'amuser. Mamie prenait toujours le temps de les questionner sur leurs quotidiens et écoutait avec grande attention leurs histoires, qu'elles soient drôles ou sérieuses.

Née Marie Micheline Nicole Vanasse, à St-Nazaire QC, le 22 août 1948, Micheline était la plus jeune enfant de René Vanasse et Éliane Pélissier.

Ses frères Maurice (Marguerite), Laurent et Pierre (Diane) se souviennent de leur petite soeur avec qui ils ont passé d'inoubliables moments à s'occuper des animaux de la ferme familiale et à explorer la beauté de la nature qui l'environnait.

De nature bienveillante, Micheline reçut son diplôme d’infirmière de l’hôpital Sainte-Croix a Drummondville en 1969. Ensuite, elle a passé plus de 30 ans comme infirmière dans des hôpitaux de Hull et Gatineau, incluant un long passage à l'unité néonatale, où elle prit le plus grand soin des nouveau-nés et des nouvelles mamans.

En février 1967, elle rencontra Marc au Carnaval de Québec, et ils se marièrent un an plus tard à Drummondville. Ce fut le début de belles aventures, tel le voyage en voiture au travers du Canada en compagnie de leur chat, innombrables excursions en famille en camping (où Micheline était toujours désignée comme responsable du feu de camp) et, suite à sa retraite, d'un voyage en Australie, son premier vol en avion.

Son altruisme, son esprit vif et sa ténacité nous manquerons. Mais nous la chérirons dans nos coeurs et honorerons sa mémoire dans nos gestes.

Un merci tout spécial au personnel infirmier et aux médecins du CLSC d'Aylmer, particulièrement à Chantale et Jessica pour les soins à domicile, ainsi qu'à tous les employés de la Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie pour leur gentillesse et leur compassion lors des derniers jours de Micheline.

Une cérémonie privée pour la famille proche sera tenue à la maison funéraire Racine, Robert et Gauthier Beauchamps à Aylmer QC.

Micheline Vanasse, 74, of Aylmer, QC passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023. Micheline leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Marc Charest, her three children, five grandchildren, three brothers and many extended family members.

Micheline was immensely proud of her children, Nicolas (Brynna Leslie), Philippe and Catherine (Toby Johnston), to whom she imparted her practical and caring nature and her subtle sense of humour. Her heart was full in the company of her grandchildren, as beloved Mamie to Olivier, Zachary, Theo, Sophia and Sajan. She loved holding them as babies and toddlers and watching them play. Mamie always took time to ask questions about their lives and listened with intention to their stories and jokes.

Born Marie Micheline Nicole Vanasse in St. Nazaire, QC on August 22, 1948, Micheline was the youngest child of René Vanasse and Éliane Pélissier. Her brothers, Maurice (Marguerite), Laurent and Pierre (Diane) remember their little sister, with whom they spent many hours in childhood together caring for animals on their family farm and enjoying the natural beauty of their home environment.

A nurturing person, Micheline graduated with a diploma in nursing in 1969 from the Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummondville. She spent more than 30 years as a hospital nurse in Hull and Gatineau, including 25 years in the neo-natal unit, where she cared for young babies and new mothers with a particular gentleness.

She met Marc at the Carnaval de Québec in February,1967 and they married one year later in Drummondville. It was the start of many adventures, including a car trip across Canada with their cat, innumerable camping excursions (where Micheline was always in charge of the campfire), and in retirement, a trip to Australia, Micheline’s first time in a plane.

Micheline’s selfless nature, wit and thoughtfulness will be missed, but we carry her with us in our hearts and our actions.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at CLSC in Aylmer, particularly Chantale and Jessica for their home care, and to all the staff at La Maison Mathieu Froment-Savoie for their extraordinary care and compassion in Micheline’s final days.

A private prayer service for immediate family will be held at maison funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp in Aylmer, QC.
