President, top of her class, able to work in both French and English, Thérèse was recruited by the federal government right out of high school from the small Paroisse of St-Malo in Quebec City. Unable to work for the federal government until she was 18 years of age, she worked for Canada Post until she moved to Fisheries and Oceans as she waited for her 21st birthday to work overseas with External Affairs. It was during her time traveling the world, that she bumped into Joseph Francis Courchene, fell in love, started a family, traveled to Poland, New York City, Jamaica and finally settling in Aylmer, Quebec in 1974. Her low key, humble involvement in community and with family led to what she described as “une bonne vie” a happy life surrounded by life-long friends and relationships she always cherished.
Sister, Mom, Grandmama, Matente, Auntie, Grand-auntie, cousin, friend and a support to many and any, she will be missed.
A religious service will be held at St-Paul’s church, Saturday Feb. 4, 2023 at 10am, 26 ch. Eardley, Gatineau (Aylmer) QC J9H 6A2.
