Arnold Wengart

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arnold Wengart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Arnold, a longtime resident of West Babylon, New York, passed away on January 26, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born in Regensburg, Germany on August 15, 1946, Arnold was the son of Irving Wengart and Emma Reiderer. He was married to Anna Wengart for 35 years. Arnold is the loving father of Kurt and Erik Wengart. Arnold’s family was the light of his life, and he was a proud grandfather to Autumn, Stephen, and Nicholas Wengart, who brought him endless joy.

Arnold was a dedicated member of the U.S. Army National Guard, serving honorably for 20 years. His professional career as a salesperson for Lufthansa German Airlines allowed him to combine his love of travel and his passion for connecting with people from around the world.

In his spare time, Arnold enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his diverse interests. He was an avid enthusiast of RC gliders and RC sailboats, spending hours perfecting his craft. As a licensed amateur radio operator, Arnold was actively involved in the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League) and enjoyed engaging with fellow hobbyists. His love for history and travel took him far and wide, and he was a proud member of the Silent Flyers (Syosset), Glider Club, and the ARRL East Meadow.

Arnold was a kind, thoughtful, and generous individual who touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for his hobbies, and his warm and welcoming nature.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Arnold is survived by many friends, fellow enthusiasts, and colleagues who will miss him dearly. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation for Arnold will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Claude R. Boyd/Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. Following the visitation will be a burial from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Greenfield Cemetery, M9PV+FJ, Uniondale, NY 11553.
