I'll never forget you, Carl.  I learned much from you.  Good times at the beach and in the back yard of Nona's and Nonno's house.  Your picture as a proud Marine still hangs in my office and I tell people about you.  'til we meet again, be at peace in the mansions of the Lord.

Words cannot express how heartbroken we are over the loss of our dear friend, Carl. We are so thankful for our friendship with Carl and Maryann. There is an emptiness inside us, but we will cherish the memory of you.

My cousin Carl was the hero of my boyhood.  Separated by a generation, he was and remains in spirit, a comrade-in-arms.  Mentor, defender, sportsman and leader, he set a high standard.  Growing up in South Jamaica, New York had its challenges and Carl handled them in good form.  He did things his way and stood by his decisions.  A man of self-reliance, responsibility and good cheer, he exemplified a generation that made the best of the opportunities that America offers.  From America to Korea and back again, he traveled the road of a family man, a working man and a patriot. He held a special place in the hearts of his Aunt Tess and Uncle Floyd and our wonderful grandparents, Nonna (Volponi) and Nunnu Paolino.  We called him ‘Dutsch' and I was always curious as to why.  I shall remember to ask him when we meet again.  Well done, Coz!
