Dear Zimmerly family,  I am just seeing this now, and wanted to send my sincerest condolences  to your family on the passing of David. I did not know him, but actually attended college with David’s brother, Chris, who tragically passed in an unfortunate accident back in 1984?  I received word concerning Chris from one of our fellow music professors at Berklee College. I just wanted to pay my respects, and say I have never forgotten about Chris, and think of him often, as we were both Trumpet players from Long Island (Babylon / Oakdale) and would often hang out after class, and play duets near government center in Boston, and share a cold beer afterwards. It was always a great time when Uncle Dave was around, and it's going to be tough without him around. But there's so many great memories of him that everyone can remember.

 My uncle was a generous man. He was always there if you needed him whether it was for a quick joke or an extra hand. I spent allot of time with my uncle. We'd spend hours in the basement pouring ceramics. He'd tell me stories from his childhood, which were always funny and unforgettable. He had an uncanny way of telling stories that made you laugh more then you should. It's a true Zimmerly charm if you ask me. I'll miss my Uncle Dave for the rest of my life. He was the type of person who never let anyone feel left out. If you separated yourself from the group at a function he was undoubtedly the person who found you ten minutes later and got you laughing and made you feel so much less alone or sad or whatever you had been feeling. He was more than an uncle to me he was a friend, someone I knew I could always tell anything and he would never judge me, but always be there to protect me. I don't think I could have ever appreciated it enough. There are allot of things I made it through with his and my Aunts help they made me feel strong when I was weak. They were my guidance when I wouldn't listen to anyone else. They have been a huge part of my life for many years. I'll never feel like I'm done repaying them for all they've done for me. I love them both with my whole heart, Uncle Dave will be a part of me forever. <3

We will always remember David smiling, laughing, and living life to the fullest.  He was always happy and being around him made everyone else a better person.  He will be missed so much, but we know that he will be in our hearts forever.  Love, The Cibirka Family

My mother and sister and myself are very sorry for the loss to the family  of Dave. We, ourselves are saddened, as we have wonderful memories of Dave in North Babylon. I played handball with Dave and he was very kind to my parents by simply stopping by our house in North Babylon in the 70's and early 80's. My mother and I spent last night on the phone reminiscing about Dave and his brothers. I am sorry for Jane, who Dave always talked so wonderfully about. Thanks Dave for wonderful memories.
