Eugene H. McGarity, 88 formally of Babylon NY. Beloved husband of the late Jean McGarity and the late Rosemary McGarity. Cherished father of Linda Papson (John), Glenn McGarity (Linda Harrison), Gail Wachter (Rob), and Michael Holmes (Doreen). Loving grandfather of Chris Papson, Matt Papson, Kate Wachter, Bob McGarity (Angela Miller), Andria Golinski (Shawn), Melissa Zmuda (Michal), and James Holmes. Adoring great-grandfather to Gabby and Kaylee Golinski. Eugene was an ex Captain in the Babylon fire department for which he served 58 years. Additionally, he was a proud veteran and served in the US Navy from 1946-1950. Family and friends may visit at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon NY Tuesday 2:00-4:30pm and 7:00-9:30 pm. In honor of Eugene there will be a firematic service at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Joseph's RC Church. Interment to follow at North Babylon Cemetery.
