James Thomas Hyland, 84, of North Babylon, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Beloved husband of Cookie. Devoted father of Laura Patricia Putnam and Timothy James Hyland. Loving father-in-law of Jayson Hamilton Putnam and Jess Hyland. Adored grandfather of Anna Putnam, Alex Putnam, Cara Hyland, and Evan Hyland. Dear brother of Patricia Chanice, Jennifer Diamandopal, John Hyland, and David Hyland. Proud US Navy Veteran and PSE& G Retiree since 2004, after 40 years of service as a relay technician, and a current member of the Union 1049 IBEW. In addition to this, James was a former North Babylon School Board Member. A man who always put his family before himself, James was most devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren, and relished the time they spent together. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by each life that he touched.
A memorial visitation will take place at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2026, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM & 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. Funeral mass 10 AM Friday, August 7, 2026, Our Lady of Grace RC Church, 666 Albin Avenue, West Babylon. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY.
