

John Marchisotta Sr., of West Babylon, New York, passed away on September 11, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on September 5, 1940, in Giuliana, Sicily, Italy, John was the cherished son of the late Giuseppe and Concetta Marchisotta.
John’s life was defined by his love for family and his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Loredana, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years. John was a proud father to Meaghen Rose Taylor (Brian) and John Marchisotta Jr. (Stephanie), and a doting grandfather to John Marchisotta III, Joseph Marchisotta, and Sophia Marchisotta.
John was also a loving brother to Nina, Larry, and Sadie, and was predeceased by his brothers Philip and Paul. His family extended to his pets, Bob the cat and the late Carina the cat, who brought joy to his life.
A skilled butcher by trade, John was well-known for his community spirit and generous heart. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a devoted volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in West Islip, New York.
John's passions extended beyond his professional life; he found joy in gardening, bowling, handball, bocci, and exploring and having his weekly garage sales. He took great pride in tending to his fig trees, tomatoes, basil, mint, and persimmon trees.
John’s resilience, boundless positivity, and ever-present smile were hallmarks of his character. He was a man who cherished his family above all else, never complained, and faced life’s challenges with grace and a smile.
John Marchisotta Sr. leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and warmth that will be remembered and cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation for John will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Claude R. Boyd/Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. A visitation will occur Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 448 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. A mass will occur Monday, September 16, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 455 Hunter Ave, West Islip, NY 11795.
