I was blessed enough, and lucky enough to have Joey come into my life when I was about 11 years old. I remember thinking about how intelligent, funny and quick thinking he was. There was nothing that he could not figure out. After I moved back from college and was staying with my dad & Michelle, my belongings were on the way back to NY. I thankfully had a job interview and having a panic attack sitting with him on the front porch and thinking "I don't have a job, all my clothes are on a uhaul and I have no money to buy more to make an impression." Without a blink, Joey said "I'll cover it. Lets go to the store." He was kind, full of heart and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a great listener, friend and extended family member. Who will I go to now when I need help with electronics? When I need help picking out what drone to buy my child for Christmas? He was the first person to tease my husband about my cooking, and we loved every minute of it.

I don't know much about life, but I do know that our life was a better place because he was a part of it. I know my husband, myself and my children all have adored and respected him throughout the years. He will be deeply and truly missed by my whole family.

With all my love,
Jessy

To all the family,

So sorry to hear, I can remember having lots of good fun with Joe while we were young kids. I remember sleeping over his house and watching movies, riding our skateboards and always talking about building ramps. He always made me laugh. He was there the day I was run over by a Suffolk county police officer and made sure I got home. It might have been a long time since I saw him but those times with him I never forgot. I’m very sorry I wasn’t able to pay my respects in person for I found out just too late.

My sincere condolences,
Vincent Ditta

I did not known Joey personally... only met him once but I do have a very clear memory of a Fourth of July party and the moment he arrived and walked onto the lawn.... everyones faces lit up and words of joy and welcome and happiness flew through the air.... must have been quite a person to light up a place with so much happiness!
Praying for the family.

My brother had a heart of gold. He was always ready to help anyone. Yesterday, Dad & Neal stopped at the apartment when they were approached by two security guards. The had heard of Joeys untimely death. They wanted my family to know how Joey was always willing to help them out when they got in a jam. They referred to one time when their battery died.

The past few days, people I don’t know have reached out to me to offer kind words of how Joey had helped them in a time of need. ❤️

I was with Joey the day before he passed away. He was helping me fix my boat engine. He took the time to take me to an engine out back and showed me what I needed to do. He was so awesome. We joked around and he taught me. I’m so sorry. He was so nice to me.
