

Born in Allentown, PA on August 6, 1939. Daughter of Franklin Stout and Beatrice Lawler. Deceased on October 9, 2023, on same day as her beloved mother Beatrice. Mary had five (5) half siblings, Dennis, Ada, Leon, Norman, and Sharon. Beloved wife of the late James D. Cassidy, Sr. Devoted mother of Debra Rabin (Mike), Karen Lescht (Al), Donna Viemeister (Bruce), James D. Cassidy, II., Michael S. Cassidy (Lorraine), Christine Testaverde (Keith), and Brian Cassidy (Aly); beloved grandmother of twenty-four (24) grandchildren; Matt, Melissa, Jennifer, Stephanie, Letitia, Bryanne, Ashlee, L.B., Megan, Brittany, Jimmy, Alicia, Christen, Casey, Micaylee, Hailey, Michael, Jr., Keith, Andrew, Ryan, Jaxon, Declan, Paisley, and Dalton; and loving great-grandmother of six (6) great-grandchildren; Emilia, Treasa, Kadence, Eve, Landon and Grayson. Residing in Brooklyn, New York throughout her youth, she met her husband, James. The two had fifty-four years of a loving marriage. James and Mary raised their family in Bay Shore, Long Island. Mary had many occupations throughout her life, such as working on St. Johns Gould Floating Hospital, a telephone operator, she served meals at her children’s school and many other jobs, but most importantly Mary was a homemaker. Upon her husband’s retirement, they moved to Ocala, Florida where Mary joined the Red Hatters. Mary was an active church member and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, she would visit women’s prisons and give them Holy Communion. Mary also spent time volunteering to work in the church gift shop. Mary provided care to elderly women to help the church that provided housing for these women. Mary adored her dog, Irish whom she spent many years with while in Florida. Mary returned home to New York in 2020. Mary dedicated her life to God and her family. Mary continued to be an active church member at St. Patrick’s. She donated to St. Jude’s, Shriners, and Tunnels to Towers, as well as many other causes. Mary had lifelong friendships that she cherished with neighbors and friends from grade school. Mary was the most incredible, selfless, gentile, caring, generous, and kindhearted soul. Mary and Jim created an Irish Clan that they were proud of and loved them all deeply. Mary was the light of their life. She will be missed deeply by her family as well as many others.

Services for Mary Ella Cassidy will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. / 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at Boyd Spencer Funeral Home in Babylon, New York. Mass will be held for Mary on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Church in Bay Shore, New York.
