Dear Joann and family
We left Lindenhurst before Matthew grew up but I will always remember those two little kids w the beautiful blond hair. Our hearts are broken at your loss. We send our love and condolences to a wonderful family.
God bless you all.

My dear friend Matt. Together you Joe and I grew up together , we were certainly the 3 amigos . So many great memories we had . So proud of you becoming a NYC police officer . If you knew how many times I bragged that my friend was one of New York cities finest . You never had kids of your own but what a devoted Uncle you were . I’m so glad you were there at my wedding . You were a quiet humble soul w a huge heart who deserved a whole lot more then what you were dealt . I’m so sorry we drifted apart in our latter years . I’m sorry I couldn’t be there today for you . My heart is very heavy with that but I know you forgive me .
Because that’s who you were . I will miss you my friend , my brother ! Love you Matty V!
You will be missed very much by your friends and family

My dear Matt-thank you for being my friend through more than half my life! I’m going to miss you terribly. Thank you for your service in the NYPD! For all the times you carried my drunk ass literally at times safely home & making sure my parents knew it wasn’t your fault. Kathy and I are losing another piece of our hearts! So many memories that make us laugh, our sarcasm and brutal honesty-growing up with you was so amazing and why this cuts so deep.
To Matt’s family he was so blessed to have you guys by his side my love and comfort to you all!

It with the deepest respect and a heavy ladened heart that my wife Tina and I humbly extend to the entire Von Seydewitz Family our condolences on Matthew's passing. As you well know he possessed an inner light that was a beacon to his fellow officers through our many hours spent on patrol. Never a course word for anyone or any hesitation to perform his duty heroically and honorably, Matthew was truly one of the Finest, of the Finest. I have only fond memories of the times we shared laughs, thoughts, and stories. He enriched everyone of us and will truly be missed. It is at times like this that our faith is often tested, but rest assured that Matthew is now completing his final journey through the gates of Heaven. He is in good company and will await us all in the Kingdom of the one true God.
