Maureen DeMatteo of West Islip, peacefully passed on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Beloved bride of Joseph. Loving mother to Jennie Mundy (Jerry), Mary Anne – predeceased (Thomas), Ann Marie DeMatteo-Zaloga (Michael – predeceased), and JoEllen Montcastle (Sean). Adored Nana of Joey, Caity, Angelina, Gianna, Connor, Evelyn, and Liam. Dear sister of Vincent, Deborah, Theresa, and Dianne - predeceased.
Friends may visit at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main St., Babylon, NY on Sunday on 2:00pm - 4:30pm and 7:00 -9:00pm. Celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Babylon, NY on Monday 11:30am. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
Loving and sassy, Maureen was devoted to her family. She was a dedicated volunteer and cherished friend to many. She will forever be remembered for her tremendous hugs, Lindy Hop dance skills, chicken cutlet culinary expertise, and love of Diet Coke. She is a bright guiding light to her family and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of Maureen DeMatteo.
