

Nicholas D. Zigo died peacefully at his home in Babylon, L.I. He was 85. Mr. Zigo was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1943 through 1946. He received the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle East Medal, Asia-Pacific Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and the China Service Medal. After the war, Mr. Zigo began working at Merrill Lynch, where he held many key positions including vice president. He was a member of the NYSE from 1974 until the present date. He was a mentor and a role model to all who knew him. Mr. Zigo retired as vice president of Merrill Lynch after 39 years of service. Mr. Zigo was honored in 1971 by Peter McDonald, Chairman of the Navajo Tribal Counsel for creating a fund called Nick Bahozhone Zigo Fund, meaning "Man of Congenial character." On August 1, 1981 a baby Beluga whale was born in the Coney Island Aquarium which was named after Mr. Zigo. The whale was called NYCI (pronounced Nicky). This honor was a tribute to all his efforts and the aquarium's way of saying thank you. Mr. Zigo was the beloved husband of the late Betty and loving father of Anthony and his wife, Joanne. Dear grandfather of Ryan. Devoted brother of Adeline Bonanza and Amy Zigo. Cherished by his many nieces and nephews. Arrangements under the direction of Claude R.
