MEYER – Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 9, 2021 at 99 years of age. Served in the 384th Bomb Group of the US Army 8th Air Force as a B-17 navigator flying 27 missions over Europe during WWII. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery and the NYS Conspicuous Service Cross, the state’s highest military honor. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen, of 69 years. Loving father to his two sons, Bob and Jack. Proud grandfather of Lisa, David, and Rebecca. Devoted great-grandfather to Jenna. Attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and NYU. Employed as Executive Service Manager for 37 years at the Atlantic Service Company, a supplier of cutlery equipment. He and his late wife lived in West Islip for 63 year. They helped found the Westminster United Presbyterian Church. As a retiree, spent winter months vacationing in a senior living community called Spanish Lakes located in Fort Pierce, FL along with his wife’s two sisters and their husbands. Loved golf, hosting barbecues, and doing projects around his house. He always will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of church, and unfailing devotion to family.
