Robert Russo, age 54, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. Robert, born and raised in New York, spent his early adulthood in North Carolina, where he took his daughter to father-daughter dances, hunted in the North Carolina Mountains with his brother and cruised ATVs with his daughter, nephew and brother in the neighboring forests. Rob was a lover of adventure and nature. When he returned to New York, he continued to spend much of his leisure time upstate, hunting and riding his numerous off-road vehicles with his many good friends. He also loved motorcycles and rode them with abandon. Displaying his crazy facial hair at times and his many tattoos gave the outsider an impression of a true tough guy (which he was), but to those of us who knew and loved him, he was a total softy with a heart of gold. Robert would not hesitate to help a friend or family member in need and was deeply loved by those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
Robert is survived by his mother, Linda Kyzer (Tony), brother, John “J.R.” Russo (Jennifer), his daughter, Sabrina Peña and his grandchildren, Luna and Sol, as well as his beloved Uncle Charlie, his nephew Joey, and several close cousins.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers, contributions to: United Veterans Beacon House, 1715 Union Blvd., Bay Shore, NY 11706, in his name, would be greatly appreciated.
