Hoy nos reunimos con el corazón dolido, pero también con gratitud. Dolido por la partida de mi tía y comadre, y agradecido por el regalo de su vida entre nosotros.

Ella fue una mujer de amor, de entrega y de familia. Siempre tuvo una palabra oportuna, un gesto sincero y un corazón dispuesto a ayudar. Como tía fue especial, y como comadre, un lazo que Dios bendijo con cariño y confianza.

Su ausencia deja un vacío profundo, pero su recuerdo vivirá en cada enseñanza, en cada sonrisa compartida y en el amor que sembró en todos nosotros. Creemos firmemente que la muerte no es el final, sino el comienzo de la vida eterna, y confiamos en que hoy descansa en la paz del Señor.

Tía y comadre querida, gracias por tanto. Descansa en paz.
Hasta el día en que Dios nos vuelva a reunir.

Hoy mi corazón está lleno de tristeza, pero también de gratitud. Gracias por tu amor, por tu presencia y por cada enseñanza que sembraste en mi vida. Fuiste más que una madrina: fuiste guía, apoyo y un ejemplo de ternura y fortaleza.

Aunque tu ausencia duele profundamente, confío en que ahora descansas en los brazos de Dios, donde no hay dolor ni lágrimas, solo paz eterna. Tu recuerdo vivirá siempre en mi corazón y en cada oración elevaré tu nombre al cielo.

Hasta que volvamos a encontrarnos, madrina querida.
Que la luz del Señor te reciba y te conceda el descanso eterno.

My sister Susy was beautiful, full of life, joyful, always moving with music and dance. She was close to completing her student teaching, on her path to becoming a dual-language teacher, when illness first appeared and altered everything. I remember the excitement she shared with me as we blended her beautiful lesson plans with books and items from my daycare. You could feel her passion about becoming a teacher. I was so proud of her. Her dreams, her joy, her life… everything feels interrupted far too soon.

Due to immigration laws, she grew up in the Dominican Republic while I grew up in the United States. There is a unique grief that families separated by borders experience. The missed milestones, different childhoods, and a bond that had to stretch across distance long before illness and loss made that separation permanent. We missed so many moments sisters should share, and that distance created a quiet ache long before her passing. I hold gratitude for the memories we did share, and tenderness for the ones we never had the chance to create. 

Losing someone you love becomes a quiet companion through every season of your life.  Susy’s absence is newly carved into my heart. She will truly be missed and remembered with love 💗

Heaven has gained an angel. Titi Susie was a beautiful and strong woman.  She always showed me love and kindness. Susie was kindhearted and always stretched out a helping hand to others. I remember her laughter clear as a bell. Titi you were taken from your loved ones way too soon but i know that you will be watching them from up above.

My titi Susie was as lovely and radiant on the inside as she was on the outside. Her manner was gentle and kind. She brought a warmth with her presence wherever she went all throughout her life. It is difficult considering illness and that this misfortune comes to those who are undeserving.  I've often wondered this over the years as I saw the effects of it on her and those that loved her. I don't think I'll ever understand the mystery or apparent injustice of such universal tragedies. I'm only relieved that she does not suffer anymore. And I have faith that with this transition,  that God will restore her beautiful,  gentle soul to the glory that graced our lives so many years before. I love you titi and may God bless your spirit and all of those left behind that still carry you in their hearts.
