Warren and I are half-brothers. We share the same father, though we are more than twenty years apart.

Our father was one of those people who thrived on acrimony and antagonism. Through the long-term, you could learn to see through all of that difficulty there was more to him than just these attacks, that he loved us and others in his own way. But, being in a relationship with him was never easy. When confronted nearly all the time with your mistakes and inadequacies, it was quite easy, almost natural, to return the fire.

Warren had experienced that kind of relationship with our father all too well. But, he did not succumb to it. He taught me that such criticism did not have to matter. Everyone had to develop their own sense of self—what they thought was right in their lives—and not spend effort on trying to appease what someone else wanted.

So, I learned from Warren when I saw firsthand from him how a family could be so incredibly different. Within Warren was a sense of patience and understanding and simply some joy in living.

We all know that these traits are what we always should have. But, over time we also learn that putting such traits into practice are so much more difficult. For Warren, however, there was never a question. His experience with our father had led him to embrace these characteristics and to live them day in and day out.

So, it was always a joy to see Warren. Yes, he played tricks at times (e.g., going ever faster in his speed boat—so fast you were about to go flying out of it), but those tricks were always part of the adventure. No matter how difficult things could get, Warren always looked to the other side where there was resolution and another adventure. That was the source of his patience and understanding—no matter how difficult things might get, there was something else—something much better—at the other end.

Which means we have to acknowledge Ronnie, as she was the one that made all of this happiness and adventure possible.

Dad,
I feel so incredibly grateful and blessed to have been raised by such a good, kind and loving man. Whether we were watching the trains travelling around your massive train board, zipping around the lake (at what felt like 150 miles per hour) or just sitting watching a cheesy episode of Seinfeld, I always felt your love. You taught me so much simply by the way you lived your life-with generosity, strength, hard work and a kind heart.
I wish with all my heart that we had been given more time together. There are still so many things I wish I could tell you and so many moments I wish we could share. I will miss you more than words could ever express, but I will carry your love, your lessons and your memory with me always!
I am so proud to call you my Dad and I will forever be grateful that I was lucky enough to be your daughter! I love you Dad! Until we meet again. <3

We love you Papa. You’re in so many sounds now. So even if we can’t talk to you, we’ll always hear you. In every train whistle, in the revving of a boat engine, in the coo of a pigeon or the call of a loon, and in the sound of toy trains racing around a track.
I love you,
Emily

Papa, I will miss you. So many of my childhood memories involve riding around on your speed boat in Maine and spending time with you watching your prized Lionel trains go around the MASSIVE train board that took up quite literally almost the entire basement (which I am certain was to Nana’s dismay lol). Danny and I loved helping feed your pigeons and helping “feed” the “billygoat.”

You were a quiet and level headed man who always made sure things were taken care of and we never questioned your love. I know you are in a good place now, wherever that may be. I also know that you will always be with us. I love you.

Rich and I did a lot of vacations with Ranan Warren certainly a lot of very early ones in Montauk with the green Cadillac and Warren was always a good sport about camping in a Cadillac and climbing up and down the cliffs to the beach and then we had many fun memories being on the honey swe e cruising around the lake, singing songs, and we had a good time in Italy trying to find our way around and Warren was always good at directions he was he was a very patient person and handled his illness very stoically for a long time He had a good life with a good wife🙏❤️

My best memory of Warren is the time he took me and my girlfriend for a ride on his boat. It was the fastest boat I had ever been on. My girlfriend and I got off the boat and we felt like that we had a facelift. It was great. Warren was an awesome guy. My condolences go out to the whole family.

Love, Vance and Jeanne

Don and I are so sorry to hear about Warren's passing.
We both will remember our engaging conversations at all the many family gatherings.

Respectfully,
Don and Suzanne Sievers.
