Wayne M. Mortak, 84, of West Babylon, entered into Eternal Life on Friday, July 31, 2026. Devoted husband of 57 years of Dang (nee Tongsawang). Wayne and his beloved wife met in 1968 in her native Thailand while Wayne served there in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Adored father of Dianne Garelli and her husband, Jerome, Michelle Young and her husband, Burtrann, and the late Wayne R. Mortak. Cherished grandfather of Kaelyn Wiltse, Gianna Garelli, and Nicholas Garelli. Dear brother of Michael Mortrak and his wife, Joyce. Before his retirement, Wayne was a Sergeant in the 2nd Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department and a proud US Army veteran. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of West Babylon, Volunteer Driver for the DAV, Superior Officers Association, Retired Police Association, and a former member of the Police Benevolent Association. In his retirement years, Wayne enjoyed fishing, his computers, and rooting for the NY Mets and NY Jets, having been a season ticket holder of Jets tickets for over 30 years. In addition to this, Wayne traveled the world with his wife, Dang, and when at home, cherished his children and grandchildren. He will be forever loved and deeply missed by each life that he touched.
