Barbara (or as many called her Barb) sadly and unfortunately lost her battle at the age of 76 with a vast array of autoimmune and other health conditions on December 8th, 2025.
Born on April 2nd, 1949 in Bakersfield, California by parents Knoble and Esther she grew up with not a lot as a child but gave back so much to so very many; both charitably or with advice, words of wisdom or just being a good friend. She didn’t advance far through education but went on to do a variety of jobs besides just being a mother to her 2 children which included working for a photographer, at a pharmacy, as a medical/surgical assistant and finally as a freelance computer graphics designer.
Some of her favorite things to do besides graphics design was helping animals, going out and enjoying nature, swim, sunbath, play video games and travel (to beach towns especially, Santa Barbara was her top favorite as well as Solvang for the food).
Her biggest pride though was her children and rescuing dogs or connecting with people in the Shetland Sheepdog community.
She is preceded in death by her Father Knoble Cozort, Mother Esther Henson, Step Father Thomas Terry, Sister Frances Bratton and many other beloved Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Surviving is her Brother Paul Cozort (Shirley), Daughter Babette Baier, Son Joshua Hayslett, Stepsons Merrit Hayslett (Deedee) and David Baier, Stepdaughters Maris Sosa (Frank) and Camille Johnston (Jerome). Grandchildren Elijah Baier, Justin Hayslett (Jennifer), Garrett Hayslett (Kaylea), Matthew Sosa and Willow Johnston. And many Great Grandchildren, Beloved Cousins, Nephews and Nieces.
A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, located at 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, United States. The service is scheduled for December 30, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
In Lieu of flowers we ask there be a donation made to St. Jude’s in her honor.
