Dorothy J. Sorensen

May 30, 1926 – October 1, 2011

Dorothy Jane Sorensen, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and friend to many left this earth from Bakersfield, CA to join Jesus on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the age of 85.

Dorothy, “Dottie”,”Jane” was born May 30, 1926 in Redondo Beach, CA where she resided until a handsome man, Frederick William “Fred” Sorensen, entered into her life. Fred and Dorothy were married June 1, 1947 and had several interesting business adventures, all of which allowed them to finally settle down in Woody, CA in 1970. Dorothy was actively involved in Woody’s Elberon Christian Church and always looked forward to family gatherings at her “Woody Ranch”. Dorothy moved to

Highland Knolls Mobile Home Park in Oildale, CA in 2001 where she made many more wonderful friends while maintaining her active life with the Woody neighborhood.

Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her friends; her four children and their spouses: Carol and Chuck Cribbs of Visalia, CA; Diane and Dennis Smith of Boerne, TX; Fred and Kathleen Sorensen of Bakersfield, CA; Robert Sorensen and Val Garrett of Bakersfield, CA; Nine grandchildren and their spouses: Billy and Allyson Cribbs of Visalia, CA; Brent Cribbs of Visalia, CA; Daniel Smith of Austin, TX; Rebecca and Willis Webb of San Antonio, TX; Karrie and Ryan Bunting of Weldon, CA; Kendra

and Michael Phillips of Bakersfield, CA; Steven and April Sorensen of Bakersfield, CA; Karen and Jason Beagley of Bakersfield, CA; Joseph and Terri Sorensen of Bakersfield, CA; and twenty-one (soon to be twenty-two) great grandchildren: Hailey Cribbs; Andrew, Ethan, and

Kaitlin Smith; Savannah, Emily, and Taylor Webb; Kacy, Will, Ed, and Jessie Bunting; Benjamin, Jack, Gracie, Sara-Jane, and Charlotte Phillips; Alyssa Sorensen; Emma Beagley; Tylor, Avery, and Austyn Sorensen.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at noon Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Woody, CA.
