Ewell Carter was always just Grampa to me. He was always quick to give you a hug and tell you how pretty you looked that day. I have tons of great memories of him and some funny ones too. We would go see him and Gramma for their birthdays for most of their 90's.  Very often Gramma would tell me that he had been ironing or up on a ladder cleaning windows  that day even though he was partially blind at that point. Her and I would laugh about his lack of fear for someone his age who couldn't see or hear very well. We usually brought our two small dogs with us and grampa went out of his way to make a safe area for them in the backyard. The dogs first stop upon arrival would be to jump on Grampa's lap and kiss him for 5 minutes straight in the chair by the front door. He was never annoyed by them. That is just one memory I have, there are hundreds more. I didn't see him often in the last few years but he was always in my thoughts and up until the very end remembered everyone in the family on birthdays and Christmas. Love You Grampa, Ellen
