Thomas William Avis

Thomas William Avis, 50, went to be with our Father in heaven on August 29, 2016. Tom was born January 25, 1966 to Chet and Renee Avis in Long Beach, Calif. Tom was a long time resident in the Kern River Valley, living in Wofford Heights at the time of his passing. He and his mother moved to Bodfish when he was about 11 years old. He went to school, worked and made many friends in the Kern River Valley. Loving the surrounding mountains, he could be found camping and gathering wood in the areas above Johnsondale. He was a laborer in the community including an employee for George and Darlene Randall during the nineties. To his friends he was known simply as “Avis”.

He is survived by his son Aaron Avis, daughter Jolene Gaudsmith, granddaughters Kylie Marie, Nicole, Naomi and Nina; brothers, sisters and friends.

We will miss you dearly, Tom.
