I knew Billy through scouting. He was a very faithful leader at Troop 138 and on the District Board. 

Two things really stand out to me in my memory of him. One, he was an incredibly calm and wise person.  A situation or discussion could be heated or getting that way and he had a knack for saying things that made osm much sense ni such a calm way that everything settled down. The second was his care and concern for the people around him. The boys in the troop, their families, the leaders he served with.

He always had an uplifting comment to make to people. He is missed.

The picture is of him serving on staff at a Knondike event. For those who don't know it is always cold and sometimes rainy and cold and he spent a weekend in the woods to make it a great event.

I had the honor and great privilege to get to know Billy thru the Franklin County Courthouse. He trained me and he taught me everything he knew. For the past 2 years we worked together at the Courthouse. Billy was a quiet soft spoken man until that Judge worked thru that door and then this loud very deep voice announced that Judge. We always joked in saying that it wasn’t the Judges courtroom it was Billy’s.  If you wanted to know something or too find anything in that courthouse , we went to Billy he knew everything.He leaves behind wonderful memories and I am a better person for having worked with and gotten to know him. I will miss him deeply..

To the family of this wonderful man and Patriot, please accept my deepest sympathy in this time of great sadness.  Billy was a friend to all who had the good fortune to know him along his life’s journey.  I thank you for his military service to our nation, and for his combat duty in Vietnam.  His kindness and gentle leadership style was an inspiration to the many Scouts that he taught and guided over the years.  Billy will be missed and long remembered in the time ahead.  May God richly bless and receive Billy with loving arms.


Dear Billy
Your presence here on earth reminded me of Elton John’s song,”Candle In The Wind”,  played in 1997 for Princess Dianna. Your flame warmed everyone’s heart and soul. Your gentile demeanor and presence affected all people. Your love of life, your respect for others, your commitment to your scouts and their families, and many, many other things will never be forgotten. We truly miss and love you dear friend.  We will meet again in a better place where peace and love truly exist,

Billy, you have been a rock to Troop 138. We met in 1985 at a fall camporee and our scout paths crossed many, many times over the years. Keep on scouting, hiking and teaching , that’s how I will remember you. Rest In Peace, Buddy, friend 

Billy J , you were a pleasure to work with/for. Really enjoyed the two years we served together in the 21st Support Command, Kaiserslautern, Germany. You were one of the best Chemical Officer I ever had the pleasure to serve with. May God receive you with open arms.  Farewell my friend.

Billy was like Family to me, (& my family) we met through my son’s & husband being in Scouts . Which both of my son’s thought a lot of him, An he them ! As I became involved in Scouting as well, We became pretty close over the many years together.  I will dearly miss my BUDDY,  he was always there for me on Scout outings, &  as a Friend to listen when I needed. He will not be able to be replaced in his Scouting roll or as My Dear Friend ! 😊 DEARLY MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN !! ( Thought & prayers to his Family )

In remembrance of Mr.Washington thank you for all the work and effort you’ve put in to helping me with my merit badges at summer camp and practicing them at our usual tuesdays night meetings and I will always keep those late night talks at summer camp in mind there was never really a subject to any of them but we always managed to crack a joke or two you will be forever missed and loved Mr.Washington

My memory of Billy will always be that of a selfless  man who always had a lesson to share. If ever there was someone to emulate, it was him and the world was a better place with him in it. Rest in peace Billy! You've earned it!

Uncle Billy was a very kind man. He would call and check in on his brother Othello. 
Uncle Billy came to Nevada for his brother's funeral. I was blessed to spend a day with Uncle and Cousin Michael. I am grateful for that day.

Billy has been one of the kindest and caring people I’ve known since 1984.  He has been active in Boy Scouts as a commissioner, merit badge counselor, assistant SM, and loved by all those who lives were touched by him.
