First met then Lieutenant Schaeffer at Engine 25 the winter of 1976 when fire service was simply part of almost every day. He moved on as a Captain at Engine 8 where we ultimately shared the station but of necessity, we were never on the same shift. The amazing part of that scenario is that Ed worked nearly his entire, long career as an Officer in some of the busiest units in the City and NEVER, EVER, slowed down or took an "easier" assignment. He was a Fire Fighter's Fire Fighter and one that very few can claim to emulate. Certainly not me. God Bless, Brother and I hope to see you again.

David and I were so sorry to learn of Tom's death. It seems so unreal. Please accept our sympathy. He was a good neighbor and a really nice person. I'm smiling remembering Tom bringing a tiller to church the day I decided to have the children plant a garden. Without Tom, the garden would have been a complete failure. Please take care of yourselves.

Ed and I had a lot of Fires together over in West Baltimore - Him at E-25 and E-8 and me at T-10 and T-13. Us Firemen are sad when we see one of our own go, but we know, deep down inside us, that we'll all be reunited, one day, in that place where "All Old Firemen Go" in the end. Bless ya Ed, till we meet again.
