Elaine D. McKenzie

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Elaine D. McKenzie (nee Lilly) passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Phillip McKenzie; loving Mom of Michelle DuBois and her husband Charles, Sr., Pamela Myers, Noah McKenzie and his wife Milli and the late Israel McKenzie; treasured Mom Mom of Charles DuBois, Jr., Michael DuBois and his wife Makayla, Ryan DuBois and his wife Abigail (Abby), the late Michelle Myers, Zachary McKenzie and Dakota McKenzie; great Mom Mom of Brantley, Harper, Izabelle, Tyson, Layla and Ella; dear sister of the late Elnora D. Morgan and her husband the late Ronald G. Morgan; cherished aunt of John Robert Lilly and his wife Jennifer; great aunt of Nathaniel Lilly; Elaine is also survived by her best friend Debbie Rudasill.

Elaine was a woman who knew how to enjoy life and make memories wherever she went. A Hampden native for nearly all her life, she cherished the neighborhood she called home and the familiar places and people who became part of her story. Later in life, she moved to Carroll County to live with her daughter Michelle, bringing with her a lifetime of memories, traditions, and stories that her family will forever treasure.

She was a devoted mother and a proud Mom-Mom to her 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking great joy in watching her family grow. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and for many years she was an active and faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She found happiness in quilting, creating beautiful pieces with patience and love, and she had a true passion for shopping. She could find a mall anywhere, and if there was a mall within reach, chances were good that she had already been there or was on her way! Shopping was more than a pastime for her; it was an adventure she thoroughly enjoyed with friends and family regularly.

Elaine loved going out for a good meal with her family. Some of her fondest memories were made around the table at Frazier’s on the Avenue with her nephew, John; at Pepe’s with her son, Noah; and after a day of shopping with her daughter, Michelle, at her regular favorite, the Nautilus Diner. She also never turned down a sub from Bella Roma when family stopped by, delivery of course!

At home, she could often be found settled comfortably in her favorite chair, playing video games on her laptop while her beloved calico cat, Daisy, rested on her lap. Her love of music was just as varied and memorable, from the timeless Motown sounds of The Supremes and Donna Summer to the comforting and uplifting music of Christian artists. She lived life in her own way, surrounded by the things she loved, and she left behind countless memories that bring smiles and laughter to those who knew her.

The family will receive friends in the Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home, 3631 Falls Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21211 on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 3-5 PM & 7-9 PM.

Interment will be held privately at a later date.
