Our deepest condolences to the Chu family with the passing of Tito Manuel.  Tito Manuel was like a grandfather to our kids.  I remembered when he brought Adrian, our son  to a children’s park one day.  He has to carry Adrian home because he was too tired to walk.  And it was a good 10-15 min walk! On behalf of our family, I would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who joined us at Papa’s funeral, and to all who reached out with prayers, kind words, and heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

Your presence, whether in person or in spirit, brought us great comfort. We are truly grateful for the love and support you’ve shown. It reminded us how much Papa  was loved and how many lives he touched.

Pls continue to pray for the repose of his soul and Thank you once again for standing with us and walking with us through this season of grief. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.

Thank you for everything, Pa. Your love continues to guide us, and your absence is felt so deeply. May cherished memories bring comfort where your presence once stood, and may you rest in eternal peace with our Blessed Lord. +

Most faithful God, lively is the courage of those who hope in You. Your servant Papa, suffered greatly, but placed his trust in Your mercy. Confident that the petition of those who mourn pierces the clouds and finds an answer, we beg You, give rest to Papa and all dearly departed. Do not remember his sins, but look upon his sufferings and grant him refreshment, light, and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. Be not severe in Thy judgment but let some drops of Thy Precious Blood fall upon the devouring flames, and do Thou, O merciful Savior send Thy angels to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.

Nong Sinhuy, when Manang Beth told me you were gone, I felt really sad. At the same time, I thought it's better that you're now at rest with the Good Lord in heaven. You suffered a lot, and every time I saw you in Baltimore, my heart ached. I miss our conversations over the phone when you were in good condition. When you weren't able to talk anymore, I felt even sadder. You were a good person - a loving son to Mama, a devoted husband to Manang Beth, and a great father to your children. I'm really proud of you. Though you suffered a lot, you're now at peace in heaven.

Papa Manuel lived an exemplary life of obedience and surrender to God's holy will. He was a true witness to being Christ's disciple!

Though it has only been five years of knowing him as my father-in-law, those beautiful years strongly showed how great he is as a father and a grandfather. He is very smart, resourceful, persevering, thoughtful, patient, and selfless. Papa Manuel's life deeply influenced my own husband, Melvin, and I am sincerely grateful for this huge blessing.

Papa's absence is not only felt by the adults in the family, but even by his grandchildren. "Where is Kong kong?", echoed in the room. I was holding back my tears, remembering Papa's sweet presence. At today's funeral service and Mass, may all of us experience peace and surrender to God's love, mercy, and holy providence, as we pray "Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Papa Manuel Chu, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. AMEN!"

Dipe, you are like a grandfather to me. You have always been there, in the many trips we went on together and in watching me grow up. I will always treasure our moments: visiting you in your office in San Ramon, swimming with you in the beach, making fun of your big belly and you drinking beer, hearing your loud snore whenever you sleep 😅, watching you as you fish, and spending my Christmas break in Baltimore with you. You lived a good and fulfilling life, and you were deeply cared for until the very end. Diem was always by your side caring for you, achi kaem, ahia sionglin, and ahia siongee were always there to support you with whatever you needed, and your grandchildren were there to give you joy. I feel at peace knowing that you are in a better place now with naynay and God 🤍. Miss you, dipe.

Vic and I am deeply saddened by Manny's passing. May his souls rest in peace with the Lord.  Our hearts go out to all of you Beth, Natalie, Erwin,  Melvin and Rocelyn.  May your memories as family bring you comfort and peace.

Lolo was one of the kindest, most steady presences in my life. We shared so many special moments together—walking side by side along the boardwalk in Baltimore, just enjoying the simplicity of the day. Will always treasure those trips with him, moments that now feel like small miracles frozen in time. I remember the quiet strength he carried with him when we went to church together in Ohio—a man of quiet faith and deep love.

He had this calm, comforting presence that made you feel safe and seen, even without saying a word. The warmth of his smile, and many of those will stay forever.

Lolo will be deeply missed. His absence leaves a space nothing can fill, but his memory will live on in every walk I take, every place we once visited, and every quiet prayer I say. Thank you for everything.

Memories of Di-ko’s Michigan visit in 2018

I smile as I think back on Manuel and the many times that I was lucky to visit him in the last months of his life. I remember him always calm and peaceful in his bed, smiling and thankful for every visit, patient and humble during his treatments, a truly beautiful soul and kind heart.
