I met Rick when I was 11 and he was 22 at my dad’s funeral. He became an immediate support to my mom & I in 1974.
45 years have passed since I seen Rick. It is no easier, it has been emotionally and physically overwhelming. Maybe because I am a RN, I wonder if I could have helped him, maybe even saved his life.
I never had the opportunity to be a part of my Uncle’s life, but I learned a lot about his legacy since March 13th……
Rick had the finest friends. They genuinely helped him in life & continue to take care him after death. Everyone has shared incredible memories & I know Rick was loved by many.
Rick had a natural talent for music. He had 2 guitars, a banjo, accordion, and a piano. Rick treasured the pictures of his friends & the good times he had.
There wasn’t anything Rick couldn’t do; he was a skilled carpenter, plumber, salesman, & mechanic. Rick had excellent math skills & was a successful proprietor with satisfied customers. He was also a designer and his tilework is gorgeous.
Rick loved to cook for his friends. He had an amazing outdoor kitchen. The crab pots are still at the pier, along with the tables that accommodated his large gathering of friends. The freezer was filled with bags of vegetables for the crab soup they anticipated.
Rick had the finest things in life. 2 corvettes, a 67 GTO, a waterfront home, & a boat for everyday of the week. He achieved, while not missing a minute to enjoy life & his friends. He lived life to the fullest in his brief 67 years.
Here are a few quotes Rick lived by:
If you obey all the rules, you’ll miss all the fun. ~ Katharine Hepburn
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
~Robert Breault
There is only one success, to be able to spend your life in your own way. ~ Christopher Morley
It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts. ~ Adlai Stevenson
Rick was loved and his memory will live on. /MargieLee (niece)
