Shirley A. Fuller, nee Baggett, after a life devoted to loving and caring for family and friends, her beautiful, generous soul passed peacefully, surrounded by family, into the arms of the Lord, welcomed by all she loved and missed.
Born and raised in Hampden/Baltimore, MD, Shirley enjoyed a very athletic youth, which included playing softball with Pop Sterner, dancing at Roosevelt Rec, and swimming for Knights of Columbus. Swimming became a lifelong passion she pursued every chance she had, be it Beaver Springs Swim Club, in the ocean, or cruising up and down the canals of Fenwick Island, DE. On many weekends, you could find Shirley and her children roller-skating at Sportsman's Hall, always ending the evening with her son in a graceful waltz few attempted.
At the heart of her life was her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cared deeply and selflessly, always putting others first. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her home, offering comfort and compassion to those in need. Her work varied over the years from babysitting and scrubbing floors in her youth, to working for Hedwin, Misty Harbor, Martin's West (where she had the honor of being host to President Ford), and Green Bay Packaging. Having been raised with old school values, her amazing work ethic and the joy she brought to the workplace were greatly admired and appreciated. Having experience in catering paired with trustworthiness, she was tasked annually with her large company's Christmas party. With her big heart, she would be the person bringing a get well card around for signatures, or taking up a collection for a coworker's time of need.
Her faith was her foundation, having been introduced to Catholicism at St.Thomas Aquinas, where her children attended school. Shirley lived her beliefs with grace and devotion, and her trust in God guided her through every chapter of her life.
She found joy and peace near the water, especially at the beach. One of her happiest places was St Thomas, USVI, where she loved SCUBA and feeding the fish in the clear blue sea. Those trips became treasured memories she often shared that reflected her adventurous and gentle spirit.
Shirley is the daughter of the late Joseph Louis Baggett, Sr. and Trema Anna Rutter Baggett; beloved wife of the late Robert J. Fuller, devoted mother of Thomas Gray, Jr. (Jamie McSorley Kemp), Robert ‘’Randy” Gray (Isa Gray), and Teresa Gray Saldaña (Isaac Saldaña); cherished grandmother of Amy Gray Beck (Jeffrey Beck), Thomas “Tripp” Gray, III (Lindsay Tucker), Grayson Saldaña, Madeline Saldaña, Jodi Halpin (Matthew Halpin), and Jeremy Kemp; great grandmother of Sonny, Gray, Bennett, Milo, Cooper, and Connor; dear sister of the late Joseph Louis Baggett, Jr., Marion L. Correlli, Claudia Hansen, and Robert F. Baggett; dear sister-in-law of Cathy Baggett and Mary Baggett. Shirley was a godmother to Trema Hoffman, Cheryl DiFatta, and Shaney Warehime. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, her steady strength, and the way she made everyone she loved feel seen and cherished.
