

on April 17, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland. He entered his eternal rest on July 30, 2025,
when The Master called him home. He grew up in East Baltimore and was known as “Bay.”
He received his education in Baltimore City Public School System. From elementary school,
he went on to attend Clifton Park Junior High and Lake Clifton High School. He had a large
newspaper route delivering the Baltimore Sun paper to homes in the area. As a teenager,
Vernon was afforded a full scholarship to attend Gillman School to play basketball
He subsequently respectfully declined the scholarship offer.
Vernon met Miss Lynn Moody and they had daughter, Tonjua Lynn Moody and a son, Travis
Moody. He had several jobs while in Baltimore during his lifetime. He worked for a private
company that performed roadside paving for Baltimore city. He was in a two-year
apprenticeship program at Cut Creators Barber shop. He later obtained his Journeyman
Barber’s license from the State of Maryland while at Cut Creators and became the manager
of the shop for several years before he went to work for other barber shops in the area.
He later worked for the Dundalk Marine terminal unloading new automobiles from ships
when they came into the Port. He stayed working for the Port until he started
experiencing health challenges that prevented him from working.
Vernon was very athletic. He always loved playing basketball, football, and swimming. He loved
Baltimore and was well known in the city. He always appreciated attending a good party with
friends and family and knew how to turn a party out as well. He enjoyed watching sports games on
tv and having discussions about current events. He tried to enjoy his life to the fullest and wanted
others to appreciate and enjoy the life that God had given to them.
Vernon’s father, Jeremiah Edwards, his mother, Vermell Edwards and one brother, Marvin Edwards
preceded him in death.
Vernon leaves to cherish his precious memories: his daughter, Tonjua Lynn Moody, his son, Travis
Moody, and a granddaughter, Jalori Lynn Moody of Baltimore, MD. One sister, Mary Deloris Davis
of Baltimore, MD, three brothers, Jeremire Lee Edwards (Renee’) of Sumter, SC, Arnold Duane
Edwards (Tanitrice) of Charlotte, NC, and Bobby Dean Edwards, two aunts; Mrs. Lou Allice Prioleau
of Sumter, SC, and Mrs. Lillie Mae Edwards of Baltimore, MD and a host of nieces, nephews,
and other close family and friends.
A visitation for Vernon will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Charles S. Zeiler & Son Inc., 6224 Eastern Ave, Baltimore, MD 21224. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 18, 2025 at 12 Noon, 6224 Eastern Ave, Baltimore, MD 21224. Immediately following the funeral services an interment will be at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Ave, Baltimore, MD 21229.
