Mary Edna Davis

She was born on 9 July 1928 in Artemus, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Paul Wilson and Mattie Meeks. The oldest of five children, she often helped her mother in the daily activities of running the home and taking care of her younger siblings. The importance of loving and caring for your family and friends would be a trait she would carry with her for her entire life.

In 1945, she met the love of her life, David C. Davis of Brush Creek, Kentucky. They were married in 1947 and began a journey of love that would last over 50 years and while they left the “country” of Southeastern Kentucky, Mary never forgot her country roots.

Mary was a member of Batavia Heights/Cornerstone Baptist Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and in later years was often referred to as “One of the Best Deacons they ever had” as she loved and cared for a congregation that became her second family.

She is survived by her two sons, David and Kevin (Tina) both of Cincinnati, OH; her brother, Cecil Meeks of Atremus, KY; four grandchildren, Krystal and Brenden Davis both of Cincinnati, OH; Stephanie Dunbar (Jesse) of Beavercreek, OH, and Brenda Harris (Dan) of Hamilton, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services will be held on 18 March, 2012 from 12-2pm at Hampton Funeral Home, Barbourville, KY 40906. Interment will immediately follow at the Davis Family Cemetery in Brush Creek, KY
